Maize USD 266 Summer School

Art and Foreign Language Academy

The Art and Foreign Language Academy will be held this summer from June 4 to June 22 from 8-11:30 a.m. This summer school program is for students in Grades 1-5 and will be held at Maize South Elementary School. Cost to attend this enrichment activity is $200 per student. Bus transportation will be provided.

Art and Foreign Language Academy students will spend a portion of each day working in the visual arts and learning about foreign language. “Spectra Art” is the curriculum used to support the art program. It focuses on specific artistic concepts, incorporates projects that use a variety of different media, and introduces students to the masters. The foreign language piece of this program will introduce the students to Spanish, French, and German. Students spend a week on each language and also learn about the history, customs, and culture of that particular country. At the end of the three weeks together, there will be a culminating summer activity where students can display their art projects.
