Four superintendent candidates visit Maize USD 266

Maize USD 266 on Thursday hosted Chad Higgins, candidate for Superintendent of Schools.

Higgins, who has worked as the Moundridge Schools Superintendent since 2009, is a graduate of Emporia and Fort Hays State universities. He earned his District Level Licensure through Friends University and anticipates the completion of his Doctorate in Education from Wichita State University in July. Mr. Higgins previously worked as the Douglass High School principal and assistant principal/activities director.

His professional experience includes the Kansas School Superintendents Association Board of Directors and Finance Task Force, as well as the Moundridge Housing Task Force and Moundridge Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet.

Mr. Higgins is one of four candidates for Maize Superintendent of Schools.

On Wednesday, Maize Schools hosted candidate Chris Ruder, who has served as McPherson USD 418's Associate Superintendent since 2008. He is a graduate of Kansas State and Fort Hays State universities. He is an Adjunct Professor in Educational Leadership at Baker University and is working on completing his dissertation through K-State. Mr. Ruder has worked as a middle school principal, athletic director and assistant principal in McPherson. He is active in his community, and his service includes involvement on the McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau Board and McPherson Education Foundation.

On Tuesday, Maize Schools hosted candidate Cory Gibson, who has been the Valley Center Superintendent since 2012. He is a graduate of Pittsburg State University and is working on his Doctorate in Education through the University of Arkansas. He previously has worked as the Halstead-Bentley Superintendent and the Pittsburg Schools Assistant Superintendent. He is the President Elect for the Kansas School Superintendent's Association, and his community involvement includes his role as a United Way of Crawford County board member and member of Pittsburg State University's College of Education Advisory Council.

On Monday, Maize USD 266 hosted candidate Dr. Andrew Koenigs. He has been the Associate Superintendent for Human Resources at Emporia Public Schools since 2012 and is a graduate of Kansas State University and Wichita State University. He has worked as Andover Public Schools' Associate Superintendent for Academic Affairs and Pratt USD 382's Assistant Superintendent. His community involvement includes participation in Leadership Wichita, the Rotary Club of Andover and United Way of the Plains.
