Pom Pon Squad

Head Coach: Angie Diskin


The Maize High Pom Pon Squad, the Fly Girls, perform at all pep assemblies, home varsity football and basketball games, and at special events such as the Fall Sports Extravaganza.  The squad also makes an annual appearance at the North High School Drill Team and Pom-Pom Show.


2001 - 2002 Team/Honors

This year the Maize Eagle Fly Girls posted a team that contained one senior, three juniors, four sophomores, and five freshmen.  Our senior (captain) is a 2 Time All-American, one junior is a 2 time All-American Nominee, and one sophomore is a All-American Nominee.  The coaches for the Pom squad are Gina Williams and Janna Kaba.


2000 - 2001 Team Honors

The Maize Eagle Fly Girls attended the National Dance Alliance (NDA) camp at Emporia State University June 15-18.  More than 300 dancers from Kansas and surrounding states attended the camp.  The Fly Girls received the following team awards: Spirit Pom, NDA Spirit Award, Superior Showmanship Plaque and Technical Excellence Certificate.  The team also received a bid to the NDA national competition to be held in San Diego March 20001.  Three Fly Girls were nominated as All-Americans and two were selected as All-American medallion winners.


1999 - 2000 Team Honors

This past summer, the pom squad attended the NCA Pom camp at K-State.  At the camp the squad received many awards and recognition including; an Excellence in Leadership Award, a Superior Showmanship Award, the Spirit Pom Award, and a Technical Excellence Award.  During camp, five members of the squad were named All-American nominees and one member was awarded the All-American medallion.  Additionally, one member of the squad received the 1st place medallion for the Drill Down competition.

The squad is involved with several fundraisers throughout the year including, Li'l Pom Summer Camp in June, and Lil' Pom and The Show, both in February.
