English 7-- Focus: The focus of 7/8 grade English is to assist the students to become effective oral and written communicators through the use of grammar, composition, and literature.

A. Understand the conventions, structure and decelopment of language.
B. Develop the communication skills to write effectively.
C. Be exposed to different terms of literature and be able to demonstrate and understanding of the literary devices.
D. Improve word choice and spell correctly in all types of writing.
E. Develop speaking and listening skills for a variety of audiences.
F. Experiment using technology equipment and a variety of resource materials.
G. Comprehend expository, narrative, technical, persuasive and descriptive.

English 7 Improvement--teacher approval--English Improvement class is available for the student having difficulty in English. Scores from the Metropolitan Achievement Test and the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Test determine the student's eligibility for this improvement class. This class provides individualized instruction to help the student gain proficiency in the basic skills for English.
