Health--Focus: Students will earn the concept of developing a healthy lifestyle and learn how to develop and maintain one for themselves
A. Learn personal hygiene and how to apply it to oneself.
B. Learn personal fitness concepts and how to apply.
C. Learn first aid and application to others.
D. Learn about self-concept and how to develop it positively.
E. Learn about environment and how it affects their life.
F. Learn and understand the role that nutrition and exercise play in total health
G. Learn the distinction between communicable and noncommunicable diseases as well as the causes and treatments of specific diseases.
H. Learn the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and drug use.
Kansas History--Focus: The focus of 7th Grade Kansas History is to help students learn about the people and events which have contributed to the development of our state's heritage.
A. Identify and locate significant places in the development of Kansas.
B. Explain cause and effect relationships of events in Kansas history.
C. Connect contemporary events to their origins in the past.
D. Determine the significance of people, events and historical sources.
E. Utilize Kansas historical facts and related concepts to compare people, places, regions, and events to one another.
Reading--Focus: The focus of the reading class is to encourage independent reading for students.
A. Read books of their choice from different genres and authors.
B. Write journal entries to record their reflections on books read.
Computer Experience--Focus: Students will be introduced to basic knowledge and skills of using MS Word, basic keyboarding skills, and basic computer terminology which well enable the student to be knowledgeable in a computer society
A. Develop a knowledge of computer basics.
B. Develop keyboarding skills using the Touch System.
C. Create and format a word processor document using MS Word.
D. Develop skills using MS Word by creating documents that include: Word Art, Tables, Columns, Clipart from MS Word and the Internet, making charts and graphs, and drawing.
E. Develop skills importing a word document using the Internet and also a scanner.
