Computer Experience II--9 weeks--Focus: Students will expand their keyboarding skills, expand their creative thinking abilities, and expand their problem solving abilities through the use of computer technology which will enable them to be functional in a computer society.

A. Develop an enhanced knowledge of computer basics.
B. Develop keyboarding skills using the Touch System.
C. Create and format word processor document.
D. Create and format a spreadsheet.
E. Create and format a desktop publishing document.
F. Use the Internet effectively.

Foreign Language--9 weeks--Focus: The 8th grade exploratory class exposes students to conversational and cultural aspects of Spanish and French.

A. Greet someone in Spanish, French and German.
B. Answer general questions about herself/himself in the target language.
C. Pronounce vowel sounds in the target language by learning tongue twisters.
D. Answer geographic questions about places where the language is spoken.
E. Understand classroom commands in the target language.
F. Become familiar with the various body parts in the target language.
G. Practice pronunciation by reciting "The Pledge of Allegiance" in the target language.
H. Learn the numbers and be able to tell time in the target language.
I. Become familiar with the months and be able to say dates in the target language.
J. Gain an awareness of Latino culture and struggles in the U.S.
K. Become familiar with cognate and various accent marks in the target language.
L. Identify various family members in the target language by creating their own personal Family Tree.
M. Discuss cultural and historical facts about countries where the target languages are spoken.

Physical Fitness 8--9 weeks--Focus: Students will have the opportunity to improve their health and fitness level through various physical activities and exercises.

Technology Exploration--9 weeks--Focus: Students will begin to develop their innate talents, attitudes, and skills to live in our technological world. Problem solving, career options, hands-on skills, and learning for tomorrow's world are all part of the Technology Exploration Program.
