The MMS cheerleaders are back and better than ever. They are ready for anything with new
and improved uniforms. So what does it take to be a cheerleader you ask?
First and for most is academics. If your grades are bad, you do not cheer until your
grades are brought up. No exceptions! If you miss school, for any reason, you are
responsible for getting your work and getting caught up. Attendance is very important.
Third, being responsible for all of your actions is a must. This means if you
break one of the rules you will have to suffer the consequences. You need to be
disciplined to be a cheerleader. You are allowed ten demerits, and if you get more than that, you are kicked off the squad!
Be friendly and polite to everyone. You are a role model and should show respect.
It's a privilege to be a cheerleader. There are so many girls that try out and
unfortunately they can only have twenty-four, tweleve for each grade. Showing school spirit, smiling, and being
friendly to all students, staff, and adults is very important for cheerleaders.
Cheerleading is fun but it's also hard work!
This year the cheerleaders have added a new addition to the squad...a yell leader! He is the first yell leader the middle school has ever had. Each squad this year is split into two different squads, the red squad and the black squad. So you could almost say there are four squads! The red squad cheers for football, volleyball, and basketball. The black squad cheers for football, volleyball, basketball, and wrestling. All 24 girls will participate in spirit assemblies, fall and winter extravaganzas, fall festival, and the cheer extravaganza in October.
