All students deserve a positive school experience. The Pray-Woodman Student Strategy Team is a diverse team of professionals that assist teachers in ensuring that this occurs for every student. If a parent or teacher feels there is a need for assistance to ensure the best outcome for their child, the Student Strategy Team (SST) is available to help.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDENT STRATEGY TEAM?

The goal of the SST is to expand the use of various resources and expertise in the school and community to address student need and promote educational success for every student.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A STUDENT STRATEGY TEAM?

  • The SST develops a plan based on strategies that work for each individual student.
  • The SST serves as a resource for assistance to teachers, staff, students, and parents.
  • The SST untilizes a wide variety of professionals in the education system, as well as parents to achieve goals.
  • The SST develops a wide variety of strategies/interventions to help achieve goals.
  • The SST will use resources both within the school and outside community to achieve goals.
  • The SST hypothesizes the root of all concerns before developing a clearly defined plan of action.
  • The SST develops a plan based on strategies that work for each individual student.
  • Plans developed by the SST continue to be monitored after the plan is in place.
  • Adjustments/Revisions to each plan are made as necessary.

WHO REFERS STUDENTS TO THE STUDENT STRATEGY TEAM?

Students are generally referred to the SST by their classroom teacher. However, any building staff member or parent with a significant concern may refer a student to the team.

WHO IS ON THE STUDENT STRATEGY TEAM?

At Pray-Woodman, the core team consists of administrators, counselors, both regular and special education teachers, the psychologist and school social worker, the school nurse, and speech and language therapists. The team will also include, as needed, any staff member, parent, or community member who has relevant input into the individual situation.
