Music

The focus of the Maize USD 266 music department is to develop all students' musical skills and understanding, by providing quality and sequential music education K-12, enabling them to value music throughout life, and to introduce and expand upon basic music concepts through a variety of musical experiences in a secure environment. All students will have the opportunity to participate in a public performance.

Basic Outcomes:

  • Melody (i.e. Music moves up or down)
  • Rhythm (i.e. Long/short sounds, clap on the beat)
  • Form (i.e. Identify same/different)
  • Tibre (Tone Color) (i.e. Identify the sound or the drum)
  • Expression/Creativity (i.e. move the way the music makes you feel)
  • Style/Culture (i.e. Identify lullaby and march music)
  • Tonal Production (i.e. Echo simple tonal patterns)
