Diane Close

Diane Close is the College & Career Advocate at Maize High School.  Diane began her career in the Maize district as a counselor in 2002 where she enjoyed 7 years at Maize High prior to the opening of Maize South.  Retiring from counseling in 2017 she considers herself fortuate be still be working with Maize students as the College & Career Advocate at Maize High.   Diane continues to be excited about this role in assisting students and their parents as they plan for the next phase of life.  Although she works on a part-time basis she is willing to meet with parents and students on a flexible schedule to provide guidance in navigating the college process, navigating scholarship websites, searching for careers of interest, and developing a solid plan for students after high school graduation.   • If you are a College Rep interested in scheduling a visit to Maize High School, we suggest that you participate in our two college fairs that are held each school year.  The fall College Fair is designed to assist seniors and their parents with making a final decision on their college choice.  However, students from all grade levels do attend.  The fall college fair (college & universities only) is held in mid September and the spring College & Career Night (post-secondary, military and local businesses are invited) is held in late January.  See Important Dates below for exact dates.  Each of these events are held in the Maize Career Academy located at 11700 W. 45th St. N., Maize, KS.  We feel these events are result in a better turn out having students and parents both attending; attendance is typically around 250.  Below is the link for you to register to one or both of the events.  If you have questions regarding either of these events, please contact Diane Close at 1-316-350-2281 or Dclose@usd266.com

    24th College Visit - Soph., Jr. & Sr. students to visit Butler Community College (Grizzly Day)

     

    * College visit are scheduled jointly with MHS and MSHS.  Registration will begin 3 weeks prior to the event; capacity will be on a first come, first served basis.

    * Charter busies are planned for visits to KSU and KU.  Students will be asked to pay $20 (non-refundable) towards transportation in addition to registration/lunch expenses.

    * College visits will require students to pay a fee for expenses ($5.00 for community colleges and $10.00 for universities)

    * Students whose name appears on the D/F report the week of the college visit will be asked to remain at school to focus on academics
