Maize USD 266 uses a mass notification system called Blackboard Connect, which sends alerts in a matter of moments. In addition to emergency messages, Connect is used to send general announcements, fundraising information, school closings, attendance and food service notifications. The Connect system uses the contact information provided by parents in Skyward Family Access. Please check your contact information in Skyward Family Access prior to the school year and update as needed throughout the year. Parents may change or view their contact information by logging onto Skyward Family Access and click on “Student Info.” If needed, parents can contact their child’s school for assistance.



    Because Blackboard Connect is a "mass" communication tool, email services like Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook and Yahoo! Mail may block email to protect you from unwanted or malicious emails such as phishing, scams and spam.  In this case, they are mistaking emails that you want for emails that you don't want.  We recommend that parents "whitelist" or add us as a Safe Sender in order to keep your email service from filtering out email notifications from Maize USD 266. If your email address is from your place of employment, you may need to ask your IT Administrator to “whitelist” us as well. To do so, add NoReply@blackboard.com to your Safe Sender list.



    In the event of school being dismissed or canceled because of inclement weather, the district will send out an e-mail, phone notification, and – for those who have opted to receive them – a text message to the primary contact associated with both Family 1 and Family 2, if applicable, for each student. Those phone notifications will go out as early as 5:30 a.m. on the day of the closure. If a decision is made the night before to call off school, calls and texts will go out no later than 10:30 p.m.
