School Nurse Services

Children learn better when they are healthy.

At Maize, we are devoted to promoting a healthy learning environment. Each school health room is staffed by a state-licensed Registered Nurse (RN) committed to providing excellent care to students. In many of our health rooms, the nurse is supported by a Nurse Para, a Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA).

Our dedicated staff of school nurses provide quality care for illnesses, first aid, asthma, diabetes, and many other medical issues that affect our students' learning opportunities.

Screenings

Maize schools participate in health screenings required by Kansas law. Each year, we provided vision screenings, hearing screenings and dental screenings aimed at early detection of health problems that adversely affect a child’s learning. Identifying health problems at an early age improve prognosis, enabling more cost-effective treatment. Healthier students are more likely to stay in school and enhance their education.
