Flexible Enrollment Opportunities
There are many ways to be a student at Maize USD 266!
Part-Time Enrollment
Part-Time Enrollment Policy
The Maize USD 266 Board of Education allows any child to enroll part-time in the school district to allow the student to attend any courses, programs, or services offered by the school district if the child:
-
Is also enrolled in a nonaccredited private elementary or secondary school or in any other private, denominational, or parochial school as required by law;
-
requests to enroll part-time in the school district; and
-
meets the age of eligibility requirements for school attendance.
District administrators shall make a good faith attempt to accommodate scheduling requests of students enrolling in the school district in these situations but shall not be required to make adjustments to accommodate every such request.
Part-time students, other than those specified previously in this policy, may enroll with the administration’s permission if they complete all paperwork in a timely fashion and are in attendance no later than September 20. Such part-time students may be admitted only to the extent that staff, facilities, equipment, and supplies are available, and the students follow the district’s student conduct policies and rules.
Virtual Education
Maize Virtual Preparatory School is a part of the Maize USD 266 school district. Through Maize Virtual Preparatory School, students across the state of Kansas have the opportunity to find their love of learning through a virtual online school partnership.
Small Class Size
Small Class size allows teachers to focus on individualized academic plans for students and families.
Each family works with their teacher(s) to develop an academic success plan. Students are encouraged to go beyond their curriculum and explore learning, not just check boxes.
K-8 Families Focus on Teaching Kids, not Curriculum
Maize Virtual Preparatory School Families have options in identifying the best curriculum for each student. New and returning families meet with a Maize Virtual Preparatory School teacher to complete the Maize By Design Family Conference. At the conference, students complete an academic readiness profile, which provides the foundation for building an Individualized Learning Plan.
High School Students Explore Learning
Students in grades 9th-12th enjoy core content courses such as English, Algebra, History and Biology. Expanded Learning, a personalized learning project, allows students to go deeper into an area of interest. Areas of focus may include the arts, leadership, community engagement or Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Projects (STEM).
In addition, all high school students have an Individual Plan of Study to assist them in navigating their high school career path.
