Honoring and Supporting Military Members and Veterans

Our district is proud to recognize and support military members, veterans, and military-connected students. Staff receive training on the unique needs of these students, including resources from the Kansas Purple Star Program. New military-connected students are welcomed through lunch groups, classroom “Welcome Buddies,” school tours, and personalized guidance to help them transition smoothly.

Students participate in creating cards, art projects, and letters for veterans, and schools host assemblies, guest speakers, and spirit days to honor service members. Fundraisers, volunteer service days, military star displays, and public recognition at school events further demonstrate our commitment to appreciating and supporting veterans and active-duty service members throughout the school year.

College And Career Readiness

Counseling staff at both Maize High School and Maize South High School are able to help students with college and career readiness. Counselors are willing to meet with parents and students to provide guidance on preparing for college, navigating scholarship websites, searching for careers of interest, and developing a solid plan for after high school graduation.

If you are a college or career representative interested in scheduling a visit to Maize High School or Maize South High School, there are college fairs that are held in fall and in the spring of each school year.
