Maize USD 266 retiree Christine Borrego celebrated as Hall of Fame teacher

Maize Board of Education President Dr. Jeff Jarman with Kansas Hall of Fame teacher Christine BorregoDuring the October 2021 Maize Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Chad Higgins and board members celebrated retired Maize USD 266 teacher Christine Borrego, who was inducted into the Kansas Teacher Hall of Fame in 2020.
She began teaching English at Maize High School in 1993. Her tenure there also included service as the English department chairwoman, Mentor Teacher, and member of the negotiations team. She has won several other awards and recognitions during her career, including Maize USD 266's Celebrating Excellence in Education Award. Her volunteerism and community involvement includes being a supporter of the Maize Education Foundation.
As described by the Kansas Teacher Hall of Fame, "Christine has achieved the trifecta of being held in high regard by students, colleagues, and parents."
