School board appoints Andrew Johnson to fill vacant seat
The Maize Board of Education during a special meeting on Monday, Dec. 6 voted unanimously to appoint Andrew Johnson as an interim District 1 member to fill the vacancy that arose last month.
The vacancy arose following former board member Shannon Edwards’ resignation, which she announced during the Nov. 8 regular monthly board meeting. Her resignation was effective immediately. Edwards, elected in November 2019, represented District 1 in the southwest portion of the school district.
Johnson will serve in the board position for the remainder of the term, which ends on Jan. 8, 2024, according to the Sedgwick County Election Office.
