New Teacher Feature: Meet Jennifer Anderson
Maize USD 266’s New Teacher Features takes an occasional look at the newest educators to join the district.
Jennifer Anderson, a new third-grade teacher at Maize Elementary School, says she is excited to be part of the amazing Maize USD 266 school district, though her story already is one of a OneMa1ze family: Her two oldest children have been Maize students since they started middle school. Now, all of her six children are proud Maize students.
If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be? Relationship Builder
What do you enjoy about the work you do? The children! I have had many walk through my classroom doors in the last 17 years (14 in the classroom and three in home daycare/preschool), and they each hold a special place in my heart. I love watching them learn, grow, and accomplish goals during my time with them and throughout their lives.
What are the values that drive you? Integrity, sincerity, dependability, and grace
What do you like doing when you are not working? I love to spend time with my husband and our six kids. I also like going to Zumba, reading, and shopping.
What is your favorite thing about Maize USD 266? My favorite thing about Maize is the feeling of community and the passion that the whole town and staff has for the students.
What is the most interesting thing or experience you bring to the district? I have taught many ages and grades, from birth/preschool up to eighth-grade math. I have seen where kids begin and where they end up before high school. This allows me to see the whole picture of elementary. It’s nice to be able to tell my students where this math will take them or why this literature skill is so important to learn now.
