American Red Cross honors three Maize USD 266 employees
It is with great pride that Maize USD 266 on Oct. 10 celebrated three employees who were honored by the American Red Cross!
Maize South Elementary School para Glen Shafer and school nurse Stephany McClellan were recognized for saving the life of fourth-grade student Keegan Dalton last year. Glen received the American Red Cross' Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action, and Stephany received the Certificate of Merit, signed by President Trump. Maize South Middle School nurse Joann Wheeler, who also serves as nurse coordinator for the district, received the American Red Cross' Lifesaving Instructor Award.
Maize High School graduate Shannon Wedge, American Red Cross of South Central and Southeast Kansas Executive Director, presented the awards.
According to the American Red Cross, the organization has presented Lifesaving Awards to 356 people this year for helping save 161 lives.
