Maize Board of Education hires new Superintendent of Schools
The Maize Board of Education on Tuesday, March 1 voted unanimously to hire Dr. Raquel Greer to become the next Maize USD 266 Superintendent of Schools. Three finalists visited the district and interviewed with school board members and employee groups, including classified staff members, educators, and administrators.
Dr. Greer has worked as the Mulvane Schools Assistant Superintendent since July 2018, and her work history also includes time as an elementary principal, elementary counselor, and third-grade teacher in Mulvane. She earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Wichita State University. Her community engagement experience includes that with the Mulvane Community Foundation and Strengthening Families Program in Mulvane.
The Maize School Board retained the services of McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. to assist in conducting its search. The consultants reviewed, screened, and conducted extensive background checks on 14 applicants. On Feb. 22, the consultants presented the applicant pool to the Maize Board of Education and provided them detailed background information on each candidate. Moving forward, Dr. Randy Gilson, consultant with McPherson & Jacobson, will facilitate a Board/Superintendent workshop to assist in the establishment of performance objectives for the new superintendent.
Dr. Chad Higgins, Superintendent of Schools, on Oct. 29 informed the school board of his intent to resign at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year. Dr. Greer will begin in the district on July 1, 2022.
