Ashley De La Torre
Maize High School graduate Ashley De La Torre returns to Maize USD 266 as a Maize South High School Spanish teacher. She taught at Maize High and Maize South High schools from 2009 to 2011 and is happy to be back "home."
If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be? Connector of Cultures
What do you enjoy about the work you do? I love the students, watching them learn a new language and discover what it's like to communicate in another language.
What are the values that drive you? Integrity and compassion
What do you like doing when you are not working? Cooking and eating delicious food, dancing, running, and hanging out with my boys.
What is your favorite thing about Maize USD 266? I love the support and training teachers receive, as well as being able to teach with amazing teachers!
What is the most interesting thing or experience you bring to the district? I lived in Mexico for four years, and that has given me insight not only into language-learning, but also what it's like to be an immigrant, the immigration process, and what it's like to be a minority.
